There’s all kinds of moms.

Stay at home moms aka SAHM. Working moms aka WM.

Natural birth moms. Water birth moms. Gimme-the-epidural moms. C-section moms.

Skinny moms. Fat moms. Bald moms. Pretty moms. Frumpy moms. TATTOOED MOMS.

Funny moms. Sad moms. Angry moms. Happy moms. Annoying moms.

Young moms. Old moms.

Single moms. Married moms. Dating moms. Divorced moms.

Birth moms. Adoptive moms. Surrogates. Foster moms. Step-moms.

Yoga moms. Soccer moms. Jogger moms. Couch moms.

Clean house neat freak moms. Messy house and t-shirt stained moms.

Organized moms. Hot mess moms. Overly-perky-happy moms. Depressed moms. Wino moms.

Fearless-adventurer-hiking-outdoor moms. Stage moms. Put-a-movie-on-I’m-exhausted moms.

Moms who don’t have any children but are a mom to many. Moms who outlived their children. Grandmas, aunts, cousins or siblings who were “mom”.

See the common thread? We’re moms. That’s pretty special. None of us is better than the other. We’re all merely doing the best we can with the tools in our toolboxes. There’s no secret handshake to this club in order to belong: ALL are welcome. We need each other. Moms of all kinds. Non-moms of every kind. Every age, size, shape & color. I mean, don’t we all fundamentally want the same things: to be loved and have bangs like Zooey Deschanel?

Happy Mother’s Day from my heart to yours.

Textbook extrovert. If there’s a stage, Jenny wants to be on it; whether it’s singing in church, doing stand-up comedy or acting. She has recently joined a cult called LuLaRoe. Her husband, David, is deeply concerned. Jenny and David, a pastor, are recently celebrating eighteen years of marriage. After years of infertility, they became adoptive parents of two year old twin boys in 2014. They’ve never been happier or more exhausted. Every day is an adventure. Jenny blogs at and has a regular feature in Tualatin Life newspaper called Everyday Heroes to celebrate those serving our community. She and her husband started a clothing line based on their story and you can check it out at There’s nothing we can’t do with a little bit of love and a whole lot of caffeine.
