Put on salvation as your helmet Ephesians 6:17a Last year at Christmas, my sister in law sent my boys dress-up armor. They made the most adorable knights in shining plastic! Though I think they should sell the armor for parents too, as we are likely to have to defend ourselves in the case of a rebellion. Helmets save lives. Just ask any person who’s been in a bike or motorcycle accident. I use enough hairspray, it’s almost like a helmet. Right? Go see what Beth has to say about the helmet of salvation.

In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. – Ephesians 6:16 I go through phases with purses. They’re either so tiny they’re impractical, or they’re so enormous I can carry a gallon of milk in it. (I can neither confirm nor deny that that actually happened.) Since we live in the land of liquid sunshine, I have often used my large purses as a shield to protect my freshly styled tresses – because a true Oregonian does NOT carry an umbrella! In those moments, I am using that handbag to shield me from the downpour. Is faith your shield? Continue onto Beth’s teaching about the shield of faith.

I used to pride myself on my ability to wear a l pair of 4-inch heels for HOURS. Singing at church on a Sunday. To work. Didn’t matter. I loved them. Even though they put me at 6′ tall. I have a dear friend who started a tradition of sending shoes for my birthday. We wear the same size and love the same style. It is my favorite gift! One year, she sent me these beauties: I recently wore a pair of boots to church. I think they have a 2.5-3″ heel. I basically limped to the car by the time church was over. It was BRUTAL. My feet were cramping. I took them off as soon as I got through the door at home. But they were cute so I was like, “Hmm…worth it!” (I actually got these for $20 on Amazon, but now they’re…

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness – Ephesians 6:16 KJV The breastplate in a suit of armor is vital as it protects your organs! I want to talk about the heart. What could we compare the breastplate of righteousness to by today’s standards? I’m going to say a bra. Ladies, you wouldn’t leave the house without a bra, and so it should be with a breastplate of righteousness. What are you doing to guard your heart? I recommend finding a friend, mentor or counselor who holds you accountable, is a VAULT that doesn’t utter a word about your conversations and encourages you. You know, someone who is supportive. Also like a good bra. Mosey on over to Beth’s blog for Biblical teaching & insights.

There’s all kinds of belts. And if you’re like my step-dad who lives in Texas, you fancy a nice belt buckle as well. Personally, I loathe them. I typically love fashion accessories, but if I am having to wear a belt for it’s functional purpose of holding my pants up, I am not happy. Ephesians 6:14 talks about wearing a belt: Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. When you wear a belt, nobody can pull your pants down. Those things ain’t goin’ nowhere! If we wear the truth like a belt, it grounds us. Holds us in place. The foundation is set. Maybe by today’s standards, we could say to put on the Spanx of truth? They shape and smooth things out, but hold a great deal. Check out Beth’s teaching on this. It’ll inspire you. For an inappropriately hilarious video that…
